What is the USCIS Online Account Number?

It is a 12-digit number that USCIS assigns and prints on the notices it mails you. If you filed a paper application, you can use this number to link your case to an online account at my.uscis.gov, so you can see updates and documents online.

Where do I find my USCIS Online Account Number?

• Look at the top of your USCIS notice (for example, your Form I-797). It is labeled “USCIS Online Account Number.”
• It is a 12-digit number — not the same as your receipt number or your A-Number.
• If you created your account online first, you can also find it inside your myUSCIS profile.

OAN vs. Receipt Number vs. A-Number

• USCIS Online Account Number (OAN): 12 digits — links paper cases to your online account.
• Receipt Number: 13 characters (3 letters + 10 digits, e.g. IOE0123456789) — identifies a specific application; this is what you use to check your case status.
• A-Number (Alien Registration Number): 7–9 digits, often starting with “A” — your permanent immigration ID.
